If the city you are coming from has you coming in on route 1262, anywhere between 1900 and Georgetown Road (460), this road will be closed during the above dates. Alternate routes are to continue on 460 W towards Frankfort Go past the Jim Beam plant, to the second traffic light. Turn right at light onto RT 2822 (You will see a golf course at this intersection, on the left as you turn onto 2822) Take a right at the first and the second stop signs you come to. When you turn right at the second stop sign, you will be on RT 1900. Follow for 5 miles, and we are on the left just past the old school. (When you pass our put in and cross over the creek, you have 3.5 more miles to go)
Directions from Cincinnati
Take Interstate 75 South to US62 at Georgetown exit #126. Turn right off of the exit onto US62, Cherry Blossom Way. In less than a mile you will come to an intersection with US460 and the US460 Bypass, there is a Wendy's on the left. Go straight, this puts you on the US460 Bypass. Follow the Bypass 6 miles through a handful of lights until you come to where you have to turn left or right. Turn Left onto US460 and follow it for 9 miles to KY1262. You will turn right onto KY1262. In 2 miles KY1262 will turn to the left and KY1688 will go straight. Stay on KY1262. In one mile you will cross over the north fork of the Elkhorn, with the Switzer covered bridge on your right, and come to a stop sign. Go strait through this stop sign, and in 3 miles, at the next stop sign, turn right to stay on KY1262. In about a mile you will pass the old Peaks Mill School on the right. Canoe Kentucky is 1/4 mile ahead on the left.
Directions from Lexington
Take I64 West to the Frankfort/ Versailles exit #58. Turn right at the bottom of the ramp onto US60. Follow US60 until you come to an intersection with US460. Go straight through this intersection, you will now be on US421. After the next traffic light, where you will see a Hardees on the right, you will begin down a hill. At the bottom you will see an exit sign stating "Frankfort/Owenton 127 North". Exit here to your right and at the bottom of the ramp, turn left onto US127 North towards Owenton. Go up the big hill, and at the top, turn right onto KY1900. (It is the first road on the right. There is a blue sign there that says "Tourist Activities, Canoe Kentucky 8 Miles".) You will pass our put in when you cross over the Elkhorn in about 5 miles. 3 miles later, over another big hill, you will pass the old Peaks Mill School on the right. Canoe Kentucky will be a 1/4 mile ahead on the left.
Directions from Louisville
Take 64 East to the Frankfort/ Lawrenceburg exit, #53B. This will put you on US127 North. Follow it 4.5 miles down into Frankfort. Immediatley after crossing over the Kentucky River, you will come to a traffic light. The 10 story Capital Plaza Hotel will be in front of you. Turn left to stay on 127 North. Continue approximatley 2 miles. After you pass the Buffalo Trace distillery on the left, and a post office on the right you will see a sign stating "Owenton/ Frankfort 127 North". Exit here to the right, and at the bottom of the ramp, turn left, onto 127 North towards Owenton. Go up the big hill, and at the top, turn right onto KY1900. (It is the first road on the right. There is a blue sign there that says "Tourist Activities, Canoe Kentucky 8 Miles".) Take US60 to Frankfort. Once you cross under Interstate 64, continue on US60 until you come to an intersection with US460. Go straight through this intersection, you will now be on US421.
